II John
A very short letter to warn of false teachers (Gnostics, in this case) who often travelled round very much like
true teachers. John was keen to discourage the believers from supporting these false teachers, however unwittingly.
The letter is written to a lady and her children; this may or may not be a metaphor for the church – or it could
actually be written to a particular lady of John’s acquaintance, as well as being a metaphor for the wider church as well.
